Why burning/recording speed become slower down?

My friend’s computer, CPU Celeron 1GHz, RAM 192MB, HDD 30GB, BenQ 48X burner (have used for about 2 years), install the Windows 98 system, Nero 5.0 burning software.

He said the recent period recorder have no problem in read a disk, however, it become slower and slower burn rate, asked me to help him. I thought becoming slower in burn rate is probably because of a virus, or computer have been used for a long time, and burner performance problems comes? So I take a latest version of antivirus software and went to his apartment, but did not found any virus. Could that be a problem of burn software? So I removed Nero5.0, installed Nero6.0, select 16X engraved 70MB data test, it spent almost 35 minutes, even a performance decreased recorder will not drop to such an extent. Is Windows 98 system be a problem with it? But other applications can be used normally, and remove the burner and then get the other computer up test problems would be too bothering. What is the reason? After I check disk usage and found C drive 4GB of space left only 100 MB, might be where the crunch lies. There are almost 600MB “junk” file in “Recycle Bin”. So I cleared them all, WindowsTemp directory has more than 300 MB “junk” file, also all the “dry” out, then move C disk document files, MP3, pictures had to the D and E disk drive, a number of unwanted software all completely deleted, run the Disk Defragmenter order complete rearrange C drive, and then test burn, no problem at all.

When you use your computer, remember to clean up “Recycle Bin”, Temp directory files regularly, best not to store various types of document files, MP3, pictures and other files in the system tray C drive, both for systems and applications software Fast running, it can reduce a lot of unwanted trouble.

Note: Ensure sufficient buffer space in Temp disk when burning, if C disk is really not enough space, you can open Nero5, in the “Preferences (F)” Click temporary store, redirect the “Temp files location” to a spacious disk is fine.
